Christmas in Oklahoma

We left Christmas day to head to Oklahoma to see Barbara's side of the family. Owen is the first great-grandbaby on the Miller side so everyone was anxious to see him. There were a lot of people there and I think Owen got tired of being held because he got pretty fussy towards the end of the trip. We usually let him cry himself to sleep at home, but didn't want to there with everyone else in the house, so Ben and I were pretty pooped too.

It was so fun to see Ben's grandparent's with Owen. Grandpa Miller even got his harmonica out and played, which Owen seemed to love.

We usually only get to Oklahoma for Christmas, but we are going to try to go back in March or April to spend more time with them when there aren't 20 other people around (not that we don't love the 20 other people!!)

Light Seeing Extravangaza

We had our annual Light Seeing Extravangaza tonight!! It was fun, but we tried out a new neighborhood that was kind of a let-down. We usually go to Prestonwood but went to another neighborhood (that I can't even remember the name of) and there were hardly any lights out. If you know of a good neighborhood for us to go see lights next year, let me know!

First Christmas Present

We had our family Christmas with my mom's side of the family this weekend and Owen got his first Christmas present. It was from my Aunt Tama, and I'm pretty sure Owen loved it! It was so good to spend time with the family but the trip was too short, as always. My cousin Jessica is expecting a baby at the end of April, so it was fun talking to her and sharing all my new motherly knowledge. She's having a boy so I'm glad I'll be able to loan her all of Owen's clothes (the kid has more than I do, I think).

We also spent a little bit of time out at my parent's property. Ben brought his 4-wheeler, but I hate riding with him because he is a little more
adventurous than I am...so I rode my nephew's 4-wheeler.

Family Pictures

We went and took family pictures today. It was like pulling teeth to get Ben to go do it, but he loves me so he did :)

SNOW!!

I can't believe it, but it snowed today...alot. I can't remember the last time it snowed that much and actually stuck. My mom was watching Owen while I went to Babies R Us when it started snowing and I was sad that I wasn't there with my little guy for his first snow (like he'll even remember it!) but it was still going when I got home and lasted well into the evening. Ben and I went out and took pictures so one day we could show Owen. It was so much fun and the snow was beautiful!! Makes me more excited about Christmas!

Weird Day

Today was a weird day. It was a great day because we finally took Owen to church. He did really good, although half way through the sermon, I took him out to the lobby because we could tell that he was about to get upset. It has been over a month since we were at church, so it was great to be back. Owen will get his shots at his 2 month check up and we'll put him in the nursery after that. I wonder how I'll handle leaving him in the nursery???

Today was also a sad day because we got word this morning before we left for church that an HPD officer was shot and killed this morning. Ben did not know the officer personally, but did know of him. I watched the news at 9:00 tonight to see if they had more information, but decided that was probably not the best thing for me to watch. I usually don't worry about Ben at work but when things like this happen it reminds me that anything can happen out there...but I know God is in control and is watching over him all the time. And when I think about it, Ben is more likely to get hurt doing all the dumb stuff he does than for something to happen at work--haha.

Peanut Butter...yum

This post is not about Owen...if you can belive it. Our dogs love peanut butter. Tonight, Ben finished off the jar and let the dogs lick the rest out. They cracked us up!!

One Month Old

I cannot believe it, but Owen is one month old today. My friend Michelle had a great idea that she did with her kids of taking their picture in just a diaper on the changing table every month so you can see how they are growing. Here's O's one-month picture.

SANTA!

I know he won't rember it, but I wanted to take Owen to see Santa. Ben hates the mall and wasn't interested in going so I asked my mom if she wanted to go with me. My dad decided that he wanted to go too, so Owen and I met them for dinner then we headed to the mall. We bought Owen and Santa outfit before he was born, but it's still way to big for him, so I just dressed him in a Christmas onesie and some Christmas socks. We were walking through the mall and passed a store that had baby Santa hats...so of course Papa had to buy it for him. It turned out so cute! He slept through the whole thing, but it was a good memory for me and my parents.

We went for a walk

So today Owen and I had another first...we took a little walk around the block. I was surprised at how tired I was after just a little mile walk around the neighborhood, but I guess it has been quite a while since I've worked out. It was kinda chilly outside, so I made sure he had a hat on and bundled him up good. My awesome stroller has little visor things that come up around him to block a lot of the wind so I think he was nice and cozy in there. Hopefully we can keep walking so I can get the rest of this baby weight off and get back in my regular clothes.

Thanksgiving

We just got back from our Thanksgiving trip...and I am pooped! We left Thursday and got back late Friday night. On Thursday we went to Ft. Worth for the Andrews' Thanksgivng. Owen got to meet his Granny and all my dad's side of the family. After we left, I realized that we didn't take any pictures with them, so we'll have to do that at Christmas. We spent the night at Jack and Gail's and I wish we could've stayed longer. I think Gail would have kept Owen if I wanted to leave him there. We got up Friday morning and went to Hilltop for the Fletcher Thanksgiving. We had such a great time and it was great to visit everyone but I was pretty glad to be home. I slept most of the day today, so I feel a little more rested. I'll get caught up on my sleep just in time to do it all over again for Christmas!!

First Real Bath

Owen's dumb umbilical cord finally fell off this week, so last night he got his first bath in his baby tub. I had finally figured out how to do the sponge bath perfectly in the guest bathroom so now I have to figure it out this way. The bathtub fits in the kitchen sink so I found a place for the heater on the cabinet and put all the bath stuff in a little carrier and brought everything into the kitchen. He did pretty good this way and it was so nice to not have to worry about getting that cord wet. I think he likes bathtime :)

Happy Birthday Pappa Fletcher

Today is Ben's dad's birthday, so I decided to take a picture of Owen wishing his Pappa a happy birthday and e-mail it to him. Craig is crazy about Owen so I figured he'd get a kick out of it (and I might get some brownie points!). I think he enjoyed it.

I love this guy!

Ben loves all things John Deere. He found these suspenders and couldn't resist. I made him put them on for a picture. Love it!!

I'm a mom!

I am officially a mom. I figured that out today as I was walking around the house around 3 pm. I had not taken a shower or brushed my teeth yet, I was still in my pajamas, with spit up on them and I hadn't eaten anything yet. That's when I knew!!!

(Notice that there is no picture with this post...I didn't think there needed to be evidence of the above description!)

Sleep, Eat and Poop

Nothing really new to report today. Just another day of sleeping, eating and pooping for Owen. I cannot believe how much that guy sleeps. Ben and I, on the other hand aren't getting that much sleep, but it's still so new that I don't think we care too much yet. Ben has been so good to me and is trying to help me get more rest by taking care of Owen for me. He can only do so much though since I have the food. But I appreciate him helping wherever he can.

First Bath at Home

Owen got his first bath at home last night (actually it was about 12:30, so I guess technically that was this morning, hu?) The picture below shows what he looked like the whole time! I realized later that the little guy was probably cold, so I found a small heater in the garage that I'll put in the bathroom next time to warm the whole room up and see if that helps. I can't wait for his gross umbilical cord to fall off so I can give him a normal bath. Until then, I'll work on getting the sponge bath perfected so he doesn't scream the whole time again. I love the way babies smell!!!

First Blog

Well, my friend Sada and cousin Teri have inspired me to start a blog. Although I don't know how much time I will actually spend on this...now that I'm a mommy!!

Things are going great around the Fletcher house these days. We got home from the hospital with Owen yesterday and things seem to be going pretty good. Owen is a wonderful baby and seems to be adjusting well to life on the outside. So far, this whole experience of being pregnant, giving birth and now being a mommy has been wonderful. I feel great and I think Owen is going to be a great baby. Sure, as soon as I type that, he starts crying. haha. It is about time for him to be hungry so I'm going to close for now so I can take care of my little guy. Man, I love that kid!!!
