#1 Dad

Ben is on a cookoff team and they had a cookoff this weekend. Well, I had to work Friday so Ben had Owen at the cookoff all day by himself...and I have to say that he is dad of the year. Our friend Matt, who has two kids, was bragging on Ben and how well he did. He just put Owen in his little carrier and carried him around all day. When it was nap time, Ben put him in his stroller and let him take a nap. It was cold out, so Ben had him in warm clothes and a hat (camo, of course) at all times. By the time I got to the cookoff, I had been away from Owen for 12 hours and that was waaaaay too long, but I knew everything would be fine because Ben is so wonderful!!!

Happy Birthday Grammy DQ

Barbara's birthday was this week, so she and Dave came over tonight and had dinner. We had a great time visiting and playing Guitar Hero.

Nap Time

On the days that I don't work...this is what Owen and I do!

He usually wakes up between 7 & 7:30, I go get him out of bed and change his diaper then we sit in the recliner and I feed and burp him...then we take a nap!! I love how his little arm is up by his head. This kid makes me so happy!

Owen and his friends

Owen went to his first birthday party today. His friend Jack turned 2 and had a cool Cars themed party. Owen also met his girlfriend Kaeli for the first time. She's two weeks old, and even though Owen is still a little guy, he seemed like a giant compared to her. She weighed a few ounces more than Owen did when he was born, so she is still tiny but so cute. And check out my guy in his argyle sweater! haha. He looks like a little man :) Ben hates when I dress him "preppy" but I think he's so cute like this!

More Family

I'm sure Owen thought he had met all of his family members already, but he met some more this weekend. On Friday went to Lufkin to see my cousin Angie and her family. We had such a great time! The kids loved Owen, and Ben loved wrestling with Carsen and Jake (Ben's still sorry about busting your nose Carsen!!) I pumped some milk so they all got a turn feeding Owen and I never changed a diaper the whole time we were there. They wanted to do it all...even change the poopie diapers.

Nothing happy about this New Year's Eve

I woke up last Wednesday morning in excruciating pain. I had to call the doctor and they were able to get me in before they closed at noon for New Year's Eve. (Luckily my mom is out of school and could take me while Ben stayed home with Owen because I was so out of it I don't think I could have driven myself) Turns out I have mastitis...which is a fancy word for a breast infection. It hurt bad! He gave me a shot of antibiotics and a prescription for more antibiotics and vicodin for the pain. I asked him how I got it and he said probably from bacteria in Owen's mouth. So, to cure the infection, I have to keep nursing or pumping every 2-3 hours (even throughout the night). What a pain. I felt so terrible that I didn't even go out for New Year's. But I had a really handsome date :)

Then, on Thursday I felt so bad I basically just sat in my recliner all day. Along with the infection is flu-like symptoms so my whole body ached. Ben hates changing diapers and I try to not make him, but I know he changed at least 2 that day, maybe 3 and he gave me lots of back rubs to try to help the pain. Missi came over too and stayed with me while the guys moved Stephanie, so that was big help to have her there!

Friday was a little better. We got together at my parent's with Jimmy and Aimee and the kids for Christmas, but by the end of the night, I was exhausted.

Today I have felt better still, but nowhere near back to normal. I start back to work on Wednesday, so I hope I'm better by then. My milk supply has been really low too, and it's starting to come back. Hopefully it's back to normal soon too because I don't want to have to buy formula!!

My 2 month old!

Well, my little guy is 2 month's old today. I can't believe it. He is so much fun though, and I'm sure he'll just get more fun from here. He's smiling and cooing and almost laughing. So sweet!!!
